We’re delighted that The County Chronicle came along to our recent performance at The Stag Theatre, Sevenoaks. It’s always rewarding when someone understands what Corazon is trying to achieve – not simply recreating Santana’s music, but celebrating its energy, spirit and musicianship.

“This is a band of musical heavyweights and they put on a consumate show. Corazon are one of the most polished acts around. Go and see them next time they play your town.”

It’s heart-warming and encouraging to see the musicianship, professionalism and sheer enjoyment of the band recognised in this way. Above all, we want our shows to be entertaining, uplifting and full of the joy that Santana’s music has always brought to us.

Perhaps most pleasing of all was that reviewer Matt Sofianos understood exactly what Corazon is trying to achieve…

“Corazon are no impersonators. This is not a tribute act cashing in on gimmicks and Smith does not bask in the glory of others. Quite the opposite: he is a messenger and he wants as many people as possible to love the music of Santana just as he does.”

“Messenger” is perhaps a slightly grand description for a group of musicians who simply love Santana’s music and want to share that enthusiasm with others. But if there is a message, it’s simply this: Viva Santana! Long live the music—its spirit, its heart and its soul.

This summer we’ve enjoyed two wonderful live dates: a return to our “home ground” at Soper Hall, Caterham, and our first appearance at The Stag Theatre, Sevenoaks.

We were delighted to perform to full houses at both venues. It’s wonderful to know there are so many people who share our love of Santana’s vibrant and timeless music.

We’d like to thank everyone who came along and gave us such a warm and enthusiastic reception. We loved every minute of both evenings and hope to return to both venues next year.

Our next live appearance is another first for Corazon, as we make our debut at CryerArts Centre, Carshalton, on Thursday 3 September.

It was a great pleasure to play at FeastyFest on 7th September. A great event – brilliantly organised and a super crowd. We enjoyed staying on to catch some other bands and to visit some of the excellent food trucks! Here’s a compilation of live footage taken by fans – featuring us playing Smooth, Primavera and Corazon Espinado.

Friday, 18th August saw our return to live performance after a few months off.

It was great to return to Caterham’s lovely and historic Soper Hall. It’s where we made our first appearance.

It was a great evening. The performance was tight and full of energy. The audience were hugely appreciative and supportive. The band really enjoyed themselves.

We also had some fabulous comments from audience members who came up to chat during the interval and at the end. Thanks to all for those kind comments. That sort of feedback warms the heart.

We are delighted to welcome Chris Franklin to the band as our new keyboards player.

With long experience as a touring and studio musician, Chris brings to Corazon an impressive combination of energy, professionalism and great musical talent. He also shares our love and affinity for Santana’s music. The moment we heard him rip into a Greg Rolie style organ solo, we knew we had found our keyboards player.

Chris is also a talented composer, arranger and music producer. Those skills and attention to detail are already proving useful as we hone our set in readiness for a return to live performing.

We want to take the opportunity to thank Chris’ predecessor, Jeff Rae. A fine musician, Jeff was an important part of the Corazon family. When he decided to leave, he left a big pair of shoes to fill. Thanks Jeff – and best wishes for your future endeavours.

We had a blast playing Baldock Beer Festival on 1st May. We had the feeling our tribute to Santana would go down well with a festival audience. However, it was nice have that confirmed by an enthusiastic crowd. Also good to know this great event raised over £600 for local charities.

We’re now looking forward to playing the Westerham Rocks festival at the end of July.

We are thrilled to announce we will be playing Baldock Beer Festival on 1st May 2022. This is a great community beer and music festival with proceeds going of charity. Loads of great music, loads of great beer! See: http://baldockbeerfestival.org/
