Corazon is a heartfelt tribute to Carlos Santana from skilled musicians who hold a deep love for his music.

Multiple Grammy Award winner Carlos Santana’s career has spanned over 50 years.  With his instantly recognisable sound and style, Carlos is the established king of latin rock.

Corazon is a new Santana tribute project led by guitarist Martin Smith. The band covers numbers spanning the great man’s career – from the brilliant first Santana album in 1969 through to last year’s superb Africa Speaks album.    The band was scheduled to make its first live appearances back in April 2020. However, the Covid-19 pandemic put a hold on that. We are delighted to announce we will be performing at Surrey & South London Rhythm and Blues Club on Friday, 15th October. Follow this link for details and tickets.

To keep us occupied,, we recorded a couple of videos “lockdown style”. Below is us performing “Corazon Espinado” – a song taken from Santana’s glorious “Supernatural” album. We hope you enjoy.

The current Covid-19 pandemic means the band won’t be performing live for a little while yet. To keep our hands in, we thought it would be fun to put together some music videos, social distancing style. The first is us performing an early Santana classic, “Evil Ways” . Next is “Corazon Espinado” (which featured on the brilliant album “Supernatural”). We had a blast doing these. We hope you enjoy them too.

Guitarist Martin Smith fell in love with the sound of Santana when, as a teenager, he first heard the album Moonflower. With Corazon, he is fulfilling a long-held desire to pay tribute to one of his musical heroes. Read the blog here.

Regular Martin Smith Band members: Martin Smith (guitar, vocals); Jeff Rae (keyboards); Chris Holliman (bass) and Robin Atkins (drums) are joined by ace latin percussionist Chino.

New video: Corazon Espinado – lockdown video call edition

Corazon was always intended to be a “live” project – but, in the current circumstances…  To be honest, we’re quite enjoying the creative process of video making. This latest effort is the Santana song that inspired our name: Corazon Espinado from the wonderful Supernatural album. For the video, we took some inspiration from the video …

Biding time for covid-19 lock-downs to end and “normal circumstances” to return, we thought it would be fun to put together a little music video. This is us performing an early Santana classic, “Evil Ways”, in social distancing mode. We had a blast putting this together. We hope you enjoy.
