Supernatural 25 – A Celebration

This year marks 25 years since Santana released Supernatural – a landmark album that catapulted Carlos and the band back into the limelight. We are celebrating by including a host of that album’s material in our current set. As well as big hits Smooth and Maria, Maria we will be including great material like Primavera, Love of my Life and Africa Bamba … ad more!

You can catch us playing this great new live material in Caterham, Surrey on Friday, April 12th. See:

Thanks Soper Hall for a great night!

Friday, 18th August saw our return to live performance after a few months off.

It was great to return to Caterham’s lovely and historic Soper Hall. It’s where we made our first appearance.

It was a great evening. The performance was tight and full of energy. The audience were hugely appreciative and supportive. The band really enjoyed themselves.

We also had some fabulous comments from audience members who came up to chat during the interval and at the end. Thanks to all for those kind comments. That sort of feedback warms the heart.

Here’s some video footage from the night – Europa (Earth’s Cry, Heaven’s Smile).

Welcome to Corazon, Chris Franklin

We are delighted to welcome Chris Franklin to the band as our new keyboards player.

With long experience as a touring and studio musician, Chris brings to Corazon an impressive combination of energy, professionalism and great musical talent. He also shares our love and affinity for Santana’s music. The moment we heard him rip into a Greg Rolie style organ solo, we knew we had found our keyboards player.

Chris is also a talented composer, arranger and music producer. Those skills and attention to detail are already proving useful as we hone our set in readiness for a return to live performing.

We want to take the opportunity to thank Chris’ predecessor, Jeff Rae. A fine musician, Jeff was an important part of the Corazon family. When he decided to leave, he left a big pair of shoes to fill. Thanks Jeff – and best wishes for your future endeavours.

Getting ready for FeastyFest

Hi Corazonistas!

It’s been a great first summer as a gigging band.  We’ve been thrilled at the great reception we’ve received at festivals including Baldock, Westerham Rocks and JailFest.  It’s also great to see that Santana’s wonderful music still has the power to bring joy to people – but then, of course it would!

We’ll be rounding off our summer schedule on Sunday, 11th September by playing at FeastyFest – a brilliant food and music festival being held in Cheam Park. There’s more details here:
We’re really excited at the prospect of playing such a big event.  There’s going to be something like 20,000 people attending.   We’re going to be onstage at 11 a.m. – so it’s an early start for you Corazinistas (especially if you like to party on a Saturday night).   However, we hope you can come on down and support us – and help bring the joy and power of Santana’s great music to the people.

Over the Autumn we are going to spend some time putting together some video promotional material – so important in this day and age. We’ll share as and when it becomes available.

We are on a mission to share the wonderful music of Santana through a tribute where we aim to capture the true spirit, passion and excitement of their music.  Please help spread the word by telling your friends and through liking/sharing on social media.

We hope to see you at one of our gigs soon.  Do come up and say, “Hi!”

Peace and love,

Corazon (the heart and soul of Santana)

Thanks Baldock for a great gig

We had a blast playing Baldock Beer Festival on 1st May. We had the feeling our tribute to Santana would go down well with a festival audience. However, it was nice have that confirmed by an enthusiastic crowd. Also good to know this great event raised over £600 for local charities.

We’re now looking forward to playing the Westerham Rocks festival at the end of July.

Wow… that was a blast!

Well, due to COVID lockdowns our live debut was somewhat delayed. We finally made it onto a stage back in October. It was worth the wait. What a fabulous audience we had at Soper Hall in Caterham. Thank you to everyone who came, listened, clapped, cheered and shouted for more. We will be returning to Soper Hall in March next year. Here’s a little video form the night. Sorry, it doesn’t capture all the band members. However, the audio quality isn’t too bad (as these things go). We hope it captures some of the energy and spirit of the night and rekindles a few memories. Love and peace Carlos style!

Live at last!

Well, it’s taken a while … but finally, the Corazon Santana tribute gets to make it’s live bow! We will be playing at Soper Hall, Caterham alongside the Martin Smith Band. You can see details and get tickets here:

New video: Corazon Espinado – lockdown video call edition

Corazon was always intended to be a “live” project – but, in the current circumstances…

To be honest, we’re quite enjoying the creative process of video making. This latest effort is the Santana song that inspired our name: Corazon Espinado from the wonderful Supernatural album. For the video, we took some inspiration from the video calls that many of us are joining just now. In particular, the “virtual background” feature that allows you to fake your surroundings. We thought, “We can have some fun with that!”. As per the original, the song is in Spanish. Martin hopes the pronounciation is up to scratch. Corazon Espinado means “thorny heart” and is a story of unrequited love. Pasar bien!
